Find the Pocket: The Goldilocks Theory

Have you ever set your goals just right? That is what I like to call ‘finding the pocket’. That place where you are pushing yourself but are still comfortable enough to keep going.

We all know the story. When Goldilocks sat down to eat some porridge, the first one was too hot, the second too cold, and the third one was just right. According to Nasa The Goldilocks zone is that sweet spot Earth sits in that harbors life. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right. It is Earths placement in moderation that makes it so.

Finding the pocket is just like Goldilocks, you have to find what is "just right" for you. That's wear you have to find your own personal pocket where you "harbor life," pushing hard enough to create change, but not so hard you give up.

When we push too hard and set our goals too high we are extinguishing life…our life. It is not weakness, but wisdom when we set our goals in the pocket. We need to learn to find the pocket and ask yourself if you have the key ingredient – moderation.

In order to find the pocket you have to get in tune with yourself. You have to pay attention to when you feel uncomfortable and tell yourself it's okay to feel a little uncomfortable it's just our brain and body getting used to something. However if we are truly feeling unsafe then we have gone to far. Finding the spot that's a little uncomfortable, but not so much we give up. That's the sweet spot.

Remember, everyone’s pocket will be different. There is no right or wrong, the pocket is where you will thrive like Earth.

Just as the Earth needs to be within a certain temperature to grow and thrive. So do you. You have to stop worrying about other people or forcing yourself when you know you need a break. Create a Goldilocks zone where you will encourage growth and happiness.
